The end of February, several members of Vision for the Americas (who are also members of the CCSHH Board) attended the CCSHH annual board meeting in El Progreso. During our time there, the clinic celebrated its 27th anniversary. It is in the process of a large expansion which will almost double the size of the current building.
On February 23, 2023, there was a ground breaking for the new construction. Because of the economic situation in Honduras and the critical need for eye care for the underserved, the expansion of the clinic is a necessity. The clinic is currently assisting five doctors in obtaining their ophthalmology residency in Mexico and Guatemala. When they complete their training, they will return to CCSHH and join the medical staff. This will allow the clinic to expand their program even more.

CCSHH is grateful for the volunteer ophthalmologists who return every year to share their skills and perform specialty surgeries, for example, retina, cornea, glaucoma, and pediatric ophthalmology.

CCSHH, through its Good Samaritan Fund, continues to make a difference in the lives of so many individuals, school children, and institutions. Recently, the GSF partnered with a local Rotary Club and purchased three AC units for the pediatric unit at the public hospital in El Progreso. They also purchased new mattresses for the cribs. School supplies and backpacks were distributed to over two hundred children, allowing them to be prepared to begin the school year.
Vision for the Americas, Inc is playing a major role in assisting both the clinic and the Good Samaritan Fund in serving the Honduran people. We are grateful to all those who financially support the ministry and mission of Vision for the Americas. It is because of your generosity that we are able to continue our programs.
