For the past 25 years, I’ve been blessed to make a cornea transplant mission trip to the same clinic in El Progreso, Honduras. There, I perform full-thickness cornea transplants and DSEK procedures, helping restore sight to those in need. I’m so grateful to Eversight Eye Bank for expertly preparing the corneas and to the selfless donors whose generosity makes this possible. I carry these precious corneas as a ‘carry-on’ on my flights to Honduras—each one a gift of hope. A huge thank you to the skilled team at CCSHH, whose support makes every surgery a success. This trip, I also had the joy of guiding a Honduran ophthalmologist through his very first cornea transplant—a moment I’ll never forget. As long as God gives me the strength and ability, I’ll keep returning to do this work that means so much to me.
